Avoiderdragon: The Dead Island series is confusing in terms of whether it should be liked or hated. The first game was actually pretty good despite its faults, and Dead Island Riptide was much of the same in a different setting. While were still waiting for the release of Dead Island 2, it seems like Deep Silver thought of releasing yet another game to fill the gap and get more audiences into the series. What came out of it is questionable though.

While not a particularly polished game, it carried with it a certain charm, marrying cooperative role-playing mechanics to hack n slash undead slaughter. Unfortunately, attempts to capitalize on the original games apparent success have failed to gain much traction. Dead Island Riptide felt like a tepid placeholder that refused to address the original games many varied problems, and while I barely even noticed the release of Dead Island Epidemic, the popular opinion seems to be that I didnt miss much. Sadly, the same is true for Deep Silvers latest spin on the series, with Escape Dead Island coming across as little more than a rushed attempt to remind us the franchise exists while Dead Island 2 remains in production."
